flexis and Adam Opel AG co-develop a new system for supply chain optimization
VDA, the German Association of the Automotive Industry, awarded Adam Opel the 2015 VDA Logistics Award. This is the eighth time that an organization won for their innovation related to providing an intelligent logistics system that can serve as a benchmark for others within the Automotive Industry. The solution, jointly developed by flexis, supports Adam Opel AG in creating a schedule that is flexible while taking into account changes in customer orders and ensuring on-time delivery utilizing the initial promised date. In addition, the solution optimizes the overall production program and supply plan while providing stability. This undoubtedly creates a significant value for Adam Opel AG.
The system connects the vehicle orders and materials in real-time, leading to greater planning flexibility. The award was presented in Leipzig at the Forum Automotive Logistics 2015 by the Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) and the German Logistics Association (BVL).
The system achieves a particularly difficult balancing act between the organizational and process-related networking of the vehicle order and the associated material levels. Thus, integrating the scheduling of vehicle orders into a single process, instead of the industry standard which schedules them sequentially. This allows the user to react quickly to changing conditions.
The benefits include a reduction in material stocks with long transit times, reductions in costs for expediting material supply and significant overall delivery performance improvements.
